XPEL Paint Protection film
Q. What is Paint Protection Film and why do I need it?
A. Paint protection film, or "clear bra" as it is sometimes known, is one of the best ways to preserve the showroom quality finish on your vehicle. The tough, durable, virtually invisible urethane film will keep your vehicle looking newer longer, without changing the design features or color, by creating a barrier and protecting vulnerable areas such as front bumpers, hoods, side mirrors, door handle cavities, door edges, rocker panels, and rear fender panels. Preserving the finish of your vehicle with paint protection film (PPF) keeps your vehicle looking newer longer, and can enhance the resale value of your vehicle in the future.
Q. How does XPEL ULTIMATE Paint Protection Film heal itself?
A. XPEL ULTIMATE Paint Protection Film uses a special polymer in its clear coat that flows even though it is cured. This allows the clear coat to find its natural level again after being disturbed on the surface.
Q. How deep a scratch will heal?
A. The clear coat is designed to heal surface scratches and common swirl marks that occur during routine washing of the car. If the scratch penetrates through the film's clear coat, it will not heal.
Q. How long does it take for a scratch to heal?
A. The time for a scratch to heal depends on the severity of the scratch and the ambient temperature. Minor scratches usually heal in one hour at room temperature (72°F). In warmer climates, healing time will be shorter. The healing process can be accelerated at any time by pouring hot water over the scratched area.
Q. How many times will the clear coat heal itself?
A. With this technology, there is no limit to the number of times the clear coat can heal itself. As long as the clear coat is not penetrated it will heal over and over again.
Q. How long will the clear coat last?
A. Depending on how the film is cared for, the clear coat can last indefinitely. Regular washing and waxing will keep the clear coat in top condition for years to come.
Q. How does XPEL ULTIMATE Paint Protection Film resist staining?
A. The clear coat on XPEL ULTIMATE has a very low surface energy, which makes it extremely difficult for organic compounds to stick to the film. Insects, bird droppings and environmental contaminants (which would normally cause yellowing) such as road oils, exhaust smoke and pollution can be removed during regular washing.
Q. What if a stain does not come off the film during normal washing?
A. If ordinary car wash or soap and water will not remove a stain, there are varieties of products available to do the job. In most cases simple isopropyl rubbing alcohol will remove anything on the surface of the film. In cases of more severe staining, or where something has been left on the film for a long period of time, a sparing amount of lacquer thinner can be used. Bug and tar remover available at any auto parts store is also effective.
Q. How is care of XPEL ULTIMATE different than other films?
A. XPEL ULTIMATE Paint Protection Film requires less maintenance than any other brand of film on the market. Our general care instructions are:
Q. Can I wax the film when I wax the rest of the car?
A. Unlike most paint protection films on the market, XPEL ULTIMATE Paint Protection film can be waxed and sealed just like your paint. Though XPEL Flawless Finish Paint Protection Film Sealant is still the preferred product, any automotive wax or sealant may be used.
Q. Will XPEL ULTIMATE make the paint underneath the film fade at a different rate?
A. No. XPEL ULTIMATE Paint Protection Film allows UV to pass through the film and fade the paint underneath at the same rate as the exposed paint.
Q. Does XPEL ULTIMATE Paint Protection Film install the same way as other films?
A. All paint protection films on the market install at least slightly different from one another. This is due to differences in adhesive chemistry, clear coat density, etc. XPEL ULTIMATE is an extremely installer friendly film when applied using XPEL's recommended installation guidelines.
Q. Can I stretch the film if it has an automotive clear-coat on top?
A. XPEL ULTIMATE can be stretched just like any other paint protection film. The only difference that will be felt is that some extra force will be needed to stretch the film due to the greater density of the clear coat.
Q. What does the XPEL ULTIMATE 10 year warranty cover?
A. XPEL warrants XPEL ULTIMATE Paint Protection Film to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for ten (10) years from the date of purchase. Covered defects include: yellowing, staining, cracking, blistering and delaminating. This warranty does not extend coverage to damage caused by normal wear and tear, road debris impact, accidents, collisions or intentional damage of any kind.
Q. Does the warranty include labor to replace the film?
A. Yes. Reimbursement for labor charges covered by the warranty will be made directly to the Authorized XPEL Dealer performing warranty replacement.
Colour Vinyl Wrapping
Q. What are the benefits of vehicle wrapping?
A. Vehicle wrapping vinyl can be easily removed so that when you want to sell your vehicle you can simply restore it to its original color without losing value.
The main reason people have their vehicles wrapped is because they would like to keep their car, but want a different color. Additionally, vehicle wrapping costs much cheaper than same quality paint job, it’s faster to perform and later on easily removable. Not mentioning that it’s impossible to replicate some vinyl colors with paint.
Q. How much does full vehicle-wrapping cost?
A. The cost depends on the size of vehicle being wrapped and material chosen, but for an average size car it starts from around 3’200 CHF.
Q. How long does a vehicle wrap last?
A. A professionally applied vehicle wrap will last between 3 and 5 years.
Q. Is the vehicle wrap easy to remove?
A. Yes. The vehicle wrapping film we use is applied with high quality adhesives and can be easily removed within 5 years of the wrap being installed.
Q. Do I have to pay someone to remove the wrap?
A. No. We’ll supply you with simple instructions for removing the graphics yourself.
Q. Will vehicle wrapping damage the vehicle?
A. Applying specialist vehicle wrapping film to your vehicle will not damage your paintwork. However, if you already have stone chips, abrasions or rust patches on your paintwork it’s important to remember that when the vinyl is removed it may pull loose paint off with it.
Q. Can I choose to wrap just part of my vehicle?
A: Vehicle wrapping is most effective when the whole vehicle is covered in a complete design. Vehicle wrapping protects your paintwork against stone chips and minor abrasions.
Q. Why the price is higher for chrome colors?
A. It takes longer to properly install compared to ordinary vinyl. With chrome vinyl, the materials are priced based on how easily they can be applied by installers. Chrome costs more due to that it takes longer to properly install compared to ordinary vinyl. It needs extra attention when applied, which requires extra care and time.
Q. Is it hard to clean/care for? Can it go through a car wash? Can it be exposed to heat? Does it scratch easily?
A. Vinyl of course isn't the same as the original paint job, however if you avoid high-pressure hoses and clean it with care there will be no problem. In some cases it is much easier to clean dust away if the vinyl is polished beforehand. It can withstand 120 degrees Celsius and is developed especially for vehicle exteriors (this is why the material costs so much). After having your car wrapped in 3 to 5 days the vinyl will become much harder and will be similar to a plastic coating protecting it from stone chips and general scratches, but this does depend on the vinyl structure. Chrome vinyl is more susceptible to scratching and damage than matte or metallic vinyl.
